Foot Reflexology Case Study

Foot reflexology is a natural therapy. A foot reflexologist works the reflexes in the foot to relieve pain and to relax the body.

Believe it or not, your feet really do tell a story, particularly to a Reflexologist.

Foot Reflexology

To a Reflexologist, your feet tell a story about your life and health. You can see how much stress and tension you carry, where you carry it, the state of your musculoskeletal system, and where you were injured.

Reflexology Foot Chart

In North America during the 1930's, a detailed reflexology map of the foot was developed by Eunice Ingham. She believed that working the foot was the best way to affect the health of the whole body. Her reflexology foot charts showed exactly how particular parts of the foot relate to other parts of the body.

Reflexology Case Study

When I first began the practice of foot reflexology, I was very sceptical. I had a client show up who had been in a very serious car accident several years earlier. She had chronic headaches and severe back pain. I didn't think massage would be possible, so I suggested reflexology. When I began working her feet, she would reach for a particular part of her body and say: "are you working on my arm?" or "are you working on my stomach?" Her nervous system was the most sensitive I have ever seen all these years, but I suspect that the actual reflexology maps were created from this type of feedback from someone who could actually feel the sensation directly in the part of the body that was being affected in the foot.

Essentially, she was the one who convinced me that there was actually something to these reflexology foot charts, and I was able to help her manage her headaches and back pain through weekly foot reflexology sessions and foot massage.
